CHEM023B PO - Discovering Chemistry with LaboratoryWhen Offered: Each spring. Instructor(s): J. Liu, K. Muzikar, D. O’Leary Credit: 1
An introduction to chemistry and chemical discovery using a course?based undergraduate research experience in which the whole class will address research questions with unknown outcomes that are of interest to the broader scientific community. Laboratory work emphasizes experimental planning and practice, chemical synthesis, analytical techniques, and molecular modeling. Lecture is coordinated with the laboratory and further develops concepts of molecular structure, intermolecular forces, acid?base chemistry, equilibria, thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, and molecular recognition. Satisfies the following General Education Requirement(s), subject to conditions explained in the Degree Requirements section of this Catalog: Area 4
