Introduction to qualitative research methods includes learning the difference between five research approaches (narratives, case studies, phenomenology, ethnographies, grounded theory studies) and obtaining hands-on experience with research tools (e.g., field observations, interviews, focus groups, content analysis) while developing a research project. Understand when qualitative methods are needed and how they are uniquely able to provide insights and improve in-depth understanding of the range of variability in human experience and perception.
