This course covers a wide range of topics of social issues in the contemporary Chinese-speaking world, including but not limited to Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Topics encompass language and society, gender issues, the changing culture of love and marriage, the Internet and censorship, globalization, politics, and more. This course is designed for students with intermediate Chinese language proficiency to acquire advanced-level language abilities, with a focus on interpretive, interpersonal, presentational, and intercultural skills. Previously offered as CHIN053  PO.
