An introduction to the theory and practical applications of neural networks. This course will cover simple perceptrons through modern convolutional and recurrent neural networks. Topics include gathering and processing data, optimization algorithms, and hyperparameter tuning. Application domains include computer vision, natural language processing, recommender systems, and content generation. Ethical implications of design decisions will also be considered throughout the course. Letter grade only. Prerequisites: CSCI 062 PO or MATH 030 PO or equivalent. Course is equivalent to CSCI 152 HM . Satisfies the following General Education Requirement(s), subject to conditions explained in the Degree Requirements section of this Catalog: Area 5
