Accelerated introductory course for well-prepared students. Chemical equilibria, atomic structure, molecular bonding and structure, chemical thermodynamics and chemical kinetics. Laboratory work emphasizes quantitative analytical and instrumental techniques and molecular modeling. Interactive computing and modeling is an integral part of the course. Prerequisite: two or more years of high school chemistry and/or AP Chemistry (score 4/5) and a passing score on the placement examination. High school laboratory experience is preferred. Satisfies the following General Education Requirement(s), subject to conditions explained in the Degree Requirements section of this Catalog: Area 4
