Relying on primary sources as well as the work of modern scholars, this research seminar focuses on the history of religious dissent in Europe from the 11th through the 13th centuries, using it as a way to understand changes in medieval religiosity as well as the evolution of ecclesiastical responses to these changes. The course will culminate with students producing their own research papers. Letter grade only. (Ancient and Medieval Mediterranean)
