This course will examine the transformation of Venezuela from a coffee producing country, to the rise of the oil industry, and trace political and economic changes in the 20th century. Specifically, the course will examine the transition from dictatorship to a pacted democracy and the conditions that gave rise to the Bolivarian Revolution in 1998. Letter grade only. (Latin America and the Caribbean)
