When Henry VIII declared England to be an “empire”, he ushered in over four centuries of imperial and colonial experimentation. This course explores the linguistic and racial domination of the archipelago, the development of religious colonialism, the nuances of economic global expansion, and the presentation of cultural suzerainty from the 16th to the 21st centuries.
