Chinese Major

Requirements for the Major in Chinese or Japanese

All majors are required to participate in the Study Abroad Program. Chinese majors must attend either the Associated Colleges in China program in Beijing or the C.V. Starr-Middlebury Schools Abroad program in Hangzhou. All majors are encouraged to reside in Oldenborg Center for at least one year. All courses for the major must be taken for a letter grade.

1. Eight upper-division courses, including CHIN 111A PO , CHIN 111B PO , CHIN 125 PO , CHIN 127 PO , CHIN 131 PO  and CHIN 145 PO ; either CHNT 164 PO  or CHNT 166 PO ; and either CHNT 167 PO  or CHNT 168 PO 
2. Senior Project (CHIN 192A PO , CHIN 192B PO ), guided research on selected topics in each semester of the final year
