Advanced physical chemistry topics chosen from the areas of statistical thermodynamics, group theory, chemical kinetics, molecular modeling and solid state chemistry. Laboratory emphasis on modern instrumental methods, including molecular spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, nuclear magnetic resonance, chemical kinetics and gas-phase adsorption. Prerequisite: CHEM 158A PO .
