Expands the technical, conceptual and expressive skills through the process of traditional metal casting. Students learn specific technical skills inherent to casting in a range of material- plaster, wax, aluminum, bronze and silver. Emphasis on pattern and mold making using traditional techniques associated with lost wax and ceramic shell. Introduces a visual and theoretical awareness of contemporary art, around the contexts of the body and the built environment. This is an upper level class and students should have taken at least one sculpture course and received the permission of the instructor. Previously offered as ART 029 PO. Satisfies the following General Education Requirement(s), subject to conditions explained in the Degree Requirements section of this Catalog: Area 6
