During World War II, Europe became the battlefield for a cataclysmic struggle between two totalitarian regimes. This seminar explores the Second World War with a particular focus on the “Eastern Front,” from the Hitler-Stalin pact and invasion of Poland to the Soviet victory and creation of an empire in eastern Europe, exploring such phenomena as occupation, resistance, genocide, collaboration, and memory.
