This course examines cultural exchanges, political relationships and conflicts and social development among contending groups on the North American continent, including major European colonial powers (Spanish, French, English), advancing settler societies and Indian confederacies and empires (including Iroquois, Creek and Comanche), from the Spanish conquest of Mexico to the conclusion of the U.S./Mexico War.
