Time and Space in Modern Japanese Literature. Are we purely the product of our environment?  Or do we in some way also construct it?  This course offers an overview of temporal and spatial concepts discernible in Japanese literature from antiquity to the present, focusing on modern Japan. Other literary traditions will be referenced for comparative purposes.
