Study of Jamaican music with special attention to the expression of cultural values through sonic forms. Examines the creative use of sound technology, and concepts of reuse and remix, both in the context of heterogeneous Black Atlantic culture and as a parent to global genres such as hip hop. Includes extensive, close listening and opportunity for performance.
