In the early 20th century, war and revolution ended a 300-year-old imperial dynasty and created the world’s first socialist society. This course focuses on the Russian Revolution, spanning the last decades of Romanov rule and the dictatorships of Lenin and Stalin and explores such themes as empire, communism and social transformation from the Baltic Sea to Siberia and Central Asia.
