Examines the interplay between race, identity, culture, gender and nationalism; the multifaceted process of ethnicity and race relations; challenges to elite preferences; alternative cultural identities such as Indigenismo and Negritude; impact of immigration; and current state of nationalism. (Latin America and the Caribbean)
