Introduction to prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes, biological information systems and data analysis. Topics: comparative genomics, biological databases, sequence alignment, similarity searching, phylogenetic reconstruction, models of evolution, genome remodeling and molecular visualization. Laboratory incorporates computer-based exercises and student research projects. Prerequisite: BIOL 041C PO or BIOL 041E PO . This course has been revised for spring 2017.
