When Offered: Each spring. Instructor(s): A.Satpute
This year’s affective neuroscience seminar will focus on the question of socio-emotional expertise. Why do some people excel at understanding thoughts and feelings more than others? What is the basis of so-called intuitions, the ‘it’ factor, charm, or charisma? More broadly, the affective neuroscience seminar will examine the psychological and neural basis of emotion, the role of ‘top-down’ processes in emotion such as language and cognitive control, and individual differences across development, healthy adults, and clinical populations, with respect to this theme. Letter grade only. Prerequisites: PSYC 051 PO and PSYC 163 PO .
