Japanese Minor

Requirements for a Minor in Japanese

A minimum of six courses; normally JAPN 051B PO , JAPN 111A PO , JAPN 111B PO , and three additional upper-division courses in either Japanese or English (i.e. Japanese language courses at the 120 level or higher, or 170-level Japanese literature courses in translation).  Up to one-half credit may be earned from the advanced kanji courses, JAPN 014A PO  and JAPN 014B PO . All courses for the minor, with the exception of JAPN 014A PO  and JAPN 014B PO , must be taken for a letter grade.

If students place into the JAPN 111A PO  level or above, they will be required to complete a different configuration of six courses (to be approved by the Japanese coordinator) in order to satisfy the requirements for a minor in Japanese.
