MATH058 PO - Introduction to Statistics with lab (CP)

An introduction to the methodology and tools vital to the researcher in both the sciences and social sciences. Introduction to probability; binomial, normal, t and Chi-squared distributions; testing hypotheses; confidence intervals; analysis of variance; and regression and correlation analysis. Concepts will be applied to current data using statistical computer software. Prerequisite: MATH 029 PO  or MATH 030 PO  or MATH 031 PO  or MATH 032 PO  or MATH 060 PO . Not recommended for students who have taken AP statistics. Topic for Spring 2018: examples from social justice literature will help explain the statistics.  This will be a community partnership class, where final group projects will be conducted in collaboration with local organizations.
